Teatro
LATEA

Teatro LATEA is a community-focused performing arts theater directed by Miguel Trelles in the Lower East Side of New York City. It’s run by Latin American Theater Experiment Associates (LATEA), a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and producing Latinx and multicultural work since 1982. The venue, housed within the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center, features a 74-seat black-box stage where it presents a diverse mix of theater, dance, music, film, and experimental performances, often in Spanish and English, and serves as a creative hub for Latino artists and audiences.

Francophonie

Francophiles
Créoles

Executive Artistic Director Miguel Trelles and Resident Choreographer Carole Alexis of Teatro LATEA proudly present the Fête de la Francophonie Festival! This celebration immerses you in Francophone culture—French-language cinema, vibrant dance, live music, and inspiring discussions. Connect with Francophones and Francophiles alike, and join the after-parties for unforgettable days and evenings of joy, culture, and shared passion.

Francophonie

Every March, the 93 member countries of the International Organization of La Francophonie celebrate the linguistic, cultural, and artistic richness of the French-speaking world—including Creole languages. Rooted in peace, democracy, human rights, education, and gender equality, the festival is both a celebration and an invitation to engage with the living cultures of Francophonie, spoken by over 300 million people across five continents.
